There are some cushions happening

Sorry, not got much time to talk, but here are some images of cushions I've been working on - told you I was a fan of pompoms.

Drawers in Progress

Continuing with my dresser, I've been working on the two drawers, today I got to remove a layer of masking tape and they are finally starting to look exciting.

The white section will be filled with a pink/coral pattern and  wood will be varnished to make it darker, but I'm really happy with the graphic outcome of this section.

Close up, I love how crisp the edges are, very excited to continue working on the rest of the dresser in this style.

Too much of nothing...

I hit a wall within my work! something is not working for me and I'm quickly running out of time to resolve it. At the moment I'm workshopping every day, but part of me feels I would benefit more from less but more productive time spent there. hmmm... I think the approaching deadline is making me work without taking the time to stop and actually think about what I'm doing.

Anyway... here's what I've been up to today

This block is developed from my shell print from many weeks ago, this piece is based on a wave and features the Blackpool Tower running through the centre.

The printed block - aside from the fact that it looks a bit like a bird - I'm fairly happy with the print, however I'd like to work on this more adding more layers and colours, as I think it's not quite amazing yet (and what's the point of making something that isn't amazing?)

This is a similar piece and I'm really happy with the outcome of this one, it's only small and I love the simplicity of it, this is the first one I'd like to see mounted and framed up.

3 weeks and 3 days left

Progress

I've finally started on one of my exhibition pieces this week. It's a reclaimed dresser that I'm reinventing by printing onto the surface.
Getting the piece to the stage where I can print onto it took a lot longer than I thought - hours of sanding , priming and painting base colours - but it's finally time for me to begin printing!

This is how my floor has been all week, there has been a lot of mixing pastel colours and stepping over drying drawers and cupboard doors.

Printing onto wood, this is my first attempt at printing onto one of the drawers, I'm really pleased with the outcome and in the flesh the colours are really vibrant and exciting.

Inspiration Station... Safomasi

Safomasi is a BEAutiful textiles printing company run by Sarah Fotheringham and Maninder Singh. These hand printed pieces are inspired by their trips around the world. I'm slightly in love with their use of colour and the perfect amount of pompoms on their cushions (in the coming weeks my love of pompoms will become very apparent)

These quilts look super toasty, I'd love to put my prints onto something so cosy!

Close up of their camel print, I think it's just the right amount of quirky.

I'm back

Really sorry for the lack of posts recently, but it turns out laptops arn't made to be balanced on heads whilst rearanging furniture. I'm back now with a newly repaired laptop and there will be many posts to follow during the last month of my degree.
